The Experience

Life House Little Havana, Through My Eyes: Mikayla Kim

Life House Little Havana, Through My Eyes: Mikayla Kim

A visual diary of a stay at Life House, Little Havana, from the point of view of a sustainable stylist and content creator.

9:30pm

This year, Basel is looking a little different for me - I’m ending it with a staycation. After attending my final event in the Design District on Saturday night, I head 11 minutes southwest to Little Havana. Time to escape the Basel buzz and tap into a little local reconnection. I hear DJ girl boss, Bia Barros, is playing at Terras tonight, and I can’t wait to boogie!

9:45pm

*Exhale of relief* The lobby is so inviting, I’m immediately in staycation mode, and check-in is the most modern I’ve experienced. It’s contactless with a little guidance by friendly staff if needed.

I’m a huge fan of a good mood. I enter room 304 and am greeted with a moody and masculine aesthetic complimented by a beautiful bathroom. The Le Labo grooming amenities are a definite plus. *Ding* A text from my friend Belle! She’s arrived to enjoy the rooftop with me.

10:30pm

Terras has quickly become my favorite rooftop in Miami. The view of Downtown from Little Havana is one you cannot miss. Bia is killing it with the music playing all kinds of disco, while we enjoy guac with delicious homemade malaga chips, jicama salad, and chicken tacos. Belle and I dance until midnight, and then it’s time to get some R&R.

Midnight

The night was fantastic, and I’m ready for bed. I’m buzzing as I walk back to the room. There’s something very satisfying about doing your skincare and pampering routine in a hotel bathroom, especially when it’s cute. I light a Life House candle and the space fills with calming notes of cedarwood, fresh hazelnut leaves, patchouli, and cashmere musk. The TV is well equipped with a great playlist that I wind down to and before I know it, I’m out like a light.

9:00am

Wow. What a good night’s sleep. The light that runs through the blinds in the AM is beautiful. It’s a calm and quiet morning in Little Havana and I’m ready to get some fresh air. I head up to the rooftop for a little morning relaxation. I hear there’s yoga and breakfast being served! I take time to journal, draw, and enjoy the views before checking out.

11:00am

One last look at the lobby details. Bye Life House, Little Havana! I’ll be seeing you soon.
